So, this is the way it all went down- in case you haven't heard the story!
Tuesday, May 26th we spent 10 hours in the hospital. I had started having contractions on Memorial Day and decided Tuesday morning that I was in too much pain to stay at home. So, Rita took Baker and I to Labor and Delivery. They gave me a shot to stop the contractions, decided I was not in labor, and sent me home.
Wednesday morning I am having lots of contractions but I decide to rest and they slow down to about 1 per hour. So, I am thinking, this can't be labor. It is probably just a result of activity on Brian and I's part that got us in this predicament in the first place. So, Baker watched Baby Einstein ALL DAY and I stayed on the couch.
Wednesday night they start picking up. Leah comes over and convinces me that I need to go to the Dr. in the morning. Granted I was in a lot of pain, but I still didn't think it was labor, so I decide I will go to see Dr. Williamson in the morning.
About 10:00 pm they are really picking up so I just go to bed. From then on out I am having... I don't know... several an hour. I was too tired to look at the clock, but I would wake up- have a contraction and then pass out. I was rotating between the floor, the couch, and our bedroom. I kept telling myself, or the Lord, if I have one more this hour then I will go to the hospital. But sure enough I would fall asleep and nothing would come.
About 4:30 the real pain set in. It was awful! The Dr. says this is where transition labor started and it was Hell on Earth. By far the worst pain of my life. Brian would reflect on this period and say the exorcist was in our home. Finally at 5:30 Brian asked if he could go sleep in Baker's room and I said- "No- I am dying (b/c I really thought I was dying) and we have to go the hospital." Since the plan with both babies was for C-sections, I had NEVER studied labor or really much about it. So, since my pain had changed from contractions to... whatever else I thought maybe I was having a pendisitas (sp?)or my uterus was exploding. I checked to see if I saw a baby's head but I didn't so I thought something else besides labor must be happening.
My ignorant delay in going to the hospital actually was the Lord's will b/c the stress it put on the baby sped up his development there at the end.
So, Brian took Baker to Tim and Jessica's and somehow managed to get me in the truck. He sped to the hospital and when I was admitted they told me I was fully dialated to 10 centimeters. I was like... No I am suppose to have a c-section and they said- honey- not today!
So we debated for what seemed like eternity on the c-section or the VBAC, but pushing the baby out won! So, I did it and it was awesome... after I got the epidural of course! Praise the Lord for the epidural!!!!! Anyways- he came out and it was great and we love him and I feel great and am healing well!
So, seems crazy and early but I have no doubts that even though it may appear that the Lord's hand was not in this, that it in fact was ALL OVER IT! Much like Esther's story God's providence is happening in this family.
