Home Is Where You Make It

Home is where you make it.

"You like to see homos naked?"

Anyone anyone???

Sorry, I couldn't resist. There are some Joe Dirt one liners that you just never forget.

Anyways, for me home will always be Weatherford, Oklahoma. That's my small town. My family, my parents, my siblings, and nieces. My land and roads and neighborhoods. Its where I grew up. Its what I know and its what I love, mainly because its MINE. But sometimes you have to grow up and make a new home.

Brian and I had a great home in Oklahoma City. We still have people and a church there who we loved and who loved us in return. We had great home in Tulsa. We had the beauty of the trees and rolling hills and the comfort of Brian's parents. We formed lifelong friendships from multi-generations that we will keep forever. Tulsa will always have part of our hearts, especially with family there.

For my children, this is their home- North Dakota. Its all they can remember, 2 of them were born here. This is the house they love and want to grow up in. Beau has said before "if we move, we will take our house right?".

But these are all temporary. Temporary. We will remain here "for a little while longer" as Hebrews 10:37 says  "Just a little while longer, and he who is coming will come; he will not delay." That is a promise. He will come back. We will make our home on one of the two sides of eternity.

All this to say, in a tiny blog, that "for a little while longer" home is going to be where the Lord calls us. He has indeed called us here. I have never been more sure of that in my life. So much real life has happened in these 6 winters here. We have loved DEEPLY. We have been loved deeply. We have laughed, played, grown, grilled out, said goodbye, been pregnant, walked through the adoption process, been in the hospital, experienced sickness, and loss. Loss is the worst.

These are the people the Lord has surrounded us with and I am thankful. No, it isn't Oklahoma and no one here shares our blood, but they are the best. We have a renewed faith in the Lord's purposes for our life. At times we think H&P is in control. Sometimes we question if we could take control. For now though, we will keep on keeping on! We rest and say God is in control and if or when we move it will only be because He IS directing our path.... and it will crush our hearts.
