In June we hosted a gender reveal party for our 4th child. It was something we originally thought would be a fun way to announce the gender to friends, but Brian really wanted us to find out at the party too. This of course meant making peace with the baby being a boy since a lot of people would be staring at me while I got the news. So, we pumped ourselves up for the boy and well, the pictures tell the rest.

These are some of our friends who eagerly came to our yuppie party! This is Brian and I before the announcement. My stomach was full of knots all day!
The ultrasound tech wrote the 99.9% sure gender in an envelope and we gave it to Courtney. She didn't even tell her husband.
We mingled for a bit and I tried to encourage people to eat but they refused until the announcement was made. One of my friends put it the well when she said, "hey, if its a girl, we will rejoice with you. If its a boy, we will laugh at you!" That relaxed me a bit.
I'm not sure there has ever been a better picture taken than the one below!
Post announcement!
These are my friends who screamed, bawled, and rejoiced with me!
These are some of the men who were probably dragged to the party, lol.
The next week we delivered the good news to the families. We showed up in pink to my parents' house after receiving lots of stares in the airport and having a family photo made, lol.
Then we finally told Nan. I can't tell you how excited we were to deliver this news. I had played it over a hundred times in my head and she didn't disappoint. I should note here that my parents have 2 daughters and 3 granddaughters so they haven't been waiting on a girl for 30 years like Nan. We started a pandora charm bracelet for her years ago and decideded the granddaughter charm would be the perfect courier.
Soooo happy! It took me a month or so to really accept this as truth. I had so convinced myself it was a boy and so grieved never having a girl after Benny was born that it just didn't seem true for my life.
All I can really say besides thank you Lord is that I am glad we stepped out in faith. After Benny was born I wrote a blog entitled "Life Lessons from a Co-Ed" about how my sister had helped me process not having a daughter. I have a line where I stated, "there was certainly a time when I wondered if God had said 'not now' instead of 'no' which my sister also suggested, but I am not holding out hope for that situation." The answer was indeed NOT NOW! I guess we call that the Holy Spirit and I am so glad we listened.
